Solomons Mines Slots

As you can tell by looking at its Newgrounds era visuals, Solomons Mines Slots Is a cheap and low budget reskin of other slots that has about as much personality as a banana. Featuring low quality art, at times creepy characters, and a sense of style that looks like it came out of a kindergarten, Solomons Mines Slots looks like what a little kid would want in a slot, which is an odd choice in a game like this. It is not entirely without its merits, and has decent pay outs and jackpots. Aside from that, however, and it looks like a game Adult Swim would make to make fun of low budget games in general.

Premise

Being off the beaten path, the premise of Solomons Mines Slots is an old series of mines and a story most people have never heard of. For that reason, it is also a strange thing to pick as a slot premise. That said, the premise is not what holds this game back, but everything else. It is one of the few things it actually has going for it, despite the odd design choices and artwork it lead to.

Presentation

The graphics in Solomons Mines Slots look like something a kid would do, assuming that kid did not know how to draw. The colors are odd, the UI is an ill fit, and the logo is so overdone that it makes the rest of the game look like it was crapped out at the last minute. The suits of cards to match actually looked ripped from a different game, but fit in well enough. This is one of the only games where we had to think about what we were matching outside of that, however, meaning the look of it all really is that bad at times.

It is somewhat funny how odd it looks, but this likely is not intentional. Graphics here are like a bad movie in that they are so bad they become funny.

Mechanics

We found the gameplay in Solomons Mines Slots to be nothing to write home about. Everything here is something you have seen before. The saving grace are generous jackpots, and bets that range from a penny to $10 a line. This makes the standard 5 reel 25 pay line formula a bit more interesting, but not by much. The bonus feature takes you inside the mines itself, but also feels like a wonky afterthought.

The high pay outs really are the draw here, which is admittedly the most important part of the game, it just feels odd to say that given how the rest of it looks.

Who is this Game For?

This game is suitable for players of all types. In particular, it should appeal to:

* Players new to digital slots and looking for something relatively accessible * Moderate intensity players that have gotten their feet plenty wet in the online slots world and are looking for something a little more involved * Jaded slot vets * People that mostly want to win a bunch of money playing digital slot games * Players looking for slot nostalgia for the similarities and differences this slot has to other games * People more used to normal video games that are looking to get their feet wet in the world of online slots

Who is the Game NOT For?

Although we enjoy this slot, it is not for everybody. In particular, it may not be your cup of tea if this describes you in any fashion:

* Averse to winning money online * Looking for something truly innovative in the genre * You find the theme in any way offputting

Is it Buggy?

In the time we spent playing this game, we did not encounter any bugs, problems, or errors. The same cannot be said for all slots of this genre, so we commend the developers for a job well done on that. We also encountered no issues in processing winnings or payments, and everything ran very smooth just like you would expect across many varied devices in a variety of ecosystems and operating systems.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, Solomons Mines Slots is what you get when you do not try that hard, and instead up the ante in terms of payout and jackpots. That is fine in our book, we just wish they had spend a fraction of the money they are making in making this game look better. As it stands, it looks so bad that it starts to look good in the same way a parody does, only without the intention. If you are a fan of the legend, that will not help you here. If you like money and have some time to invest, however, this is a solid game choice, albeit an ugly one. There are better options out there, but you’re already here, so why not give it a go?
